Turkish Airlines (THY) has posted a first half net profit of $208 million, an increase of 219 per cent compared to the first six months of 2007.

Operating revenue was up 37 per cent to $2,131 million, although fuel costs saw a rise of eight per cent. The number of passengers carried rose 15 per cent to 10.3 million.

Following last week’s announcement that it had issued a Letter of Intent to participate in the sale of a 43 per cent stake in Austrian Airlines, THY has revealed that it has also decided to participate in the 49 per cent sale of B&H Airlines, the flag carrier of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
